A Public Presentation by

George Rishmawi and Eyad Burnat

Chapel Royal, North St.
Sat 19th April 6.30pm (After 5.30 mass)

George Rishmawi is a Palestinian Christian from the Bethlehem area - his family lives in Beit Sahour, the "Shepherds Fields" area of Bethlehem. George is Co-ordinator of the Siraj Center for Holy Land Studies in Beit Sahour, and is a board member of the Network of Christian Organisations in the Bethlehem area. In 2006 he toured the USA speaking to church groups about the situation for indigenous Christians in Palestine, and encouraging Christians to visit the Holy Land. He will also bring a display of traditional Palestinian crafts (olive wood carvings, embroidery, etc), which have provided an income for Christians in Palestine for hundreds of years.

Also visiting the UK will be Eyad Burnat. Eyad, a Muslim, is the founder of the Movement for Freedom and Justice in Bil'in - one of the most highly respected and well known non-violent movements in Palestine. Bil'in is a small village north of Jerusalem and is directly in the path of the Separation Wall being built by Israel - the residents of Bil'in are joined by many Israelis in a peaceful weekly protest which has become synonymous with the non-violent movement against occupation in Palestine.
