About the Directory
By Peter Sharrock
1. This Directory of Faith Communities and Traditions is published by the Brighton & Hove Inter-Faith Contact Group (IFCG) on this, its internet website at http://www.ifcg.co.uk, from which members of the public and public organisations may print single copies. The IFCG does not itself publish a version in print, because online versions are more easily corrected and information is frequently updated and changed.
2. The information contained within this Directory has been provided as a resource for the general public and public services. Inclusion within this Directory does not necessarily imply an affiliation or agreement with the aims and objectives of the IFCG. The statements of faith or belief contained within this Directory simply identify the entrants in their own words. It is neither the desire nor the intention that any comparisons be made between one entry and another in this Directory. Unless otherwise stated, the information is provided by each faith, community or tradition in response to a request for an entry of no more than 300 words, which should contain the following details:
- The name of your faith/community/tradition
- The main local place of meeting or contact address
- A brief description of your faith/community/tradition
- The times of your meetings and/or services
- Contact details for enquiries made by people of your faith (who may be new to or visiting this area) or by members of the public, or by people of other faiths
- Information regarding restrictions (such as dress codes or access to the public) or difficulties of access (such as parking or for wheelchairs) to your meetings or premises
- The availability or otherwise of texts, literature or further information, either from your address or in public places (such as libraries)
3. Where this ¤ symbol appears at the beginning of an entry in this Directory it denotes that the information has been compiled indirectly and from a source generally available in public places. Authorised persons should contact the IFCG Internet Editor (via the IFCG email address) where information about their faith, community or tradition requires inclusion, correction or amendment.
4. When it is known that there are people of a faith or tradition in Brighton & Hove but there is no further information available about local contact points or meeting places, then a regional or international information resource has been listed.
5. The Directory is copyright free, but alterations must not be made to its content or appearance, and multiple copies should not be circulated without the written consent of the IFCG Secretary.
6. Enquiries about a faith community or tradition should be made to the relevant address as given in the Directory below.
7. A section for further sources of information & other inter-faith organisations is included at the end of this Directory.
8. All faith communities and traditions in the following Directory are arranged in English-alphabetical order according to the title given by each entrant.
9. All phone numbers are marked T# and are (unless otherwise stated) of six digits for our local area (If you dial from outside our area you should add the 01273 prefix). All email addresses contain the @ symbol. And all web sites begin with the letters www or http.
